1). JACK KEROUAC’S 89TH BIRTHDAY IS SATURDAY MARCH 12TH
The folks at Lowell Celebrates Kerouac have been toasting Jack’s memory for over twenty years. All the usual suspects will be there and this year holds a special treat – a screening on Saturday of “David Amram The First 80 Years” at The Boots Cotton Mill. Later that evening from 7-10pm at The Back Page Jazz and Blues Club Roger Brunelle will be honored, introduced by John Sampas. Then David Amram takes the stage and will be remembering Jack long into the night. Also on tap earlier in the day is a special 75th anniversary observance of the 1936 Lowell Flood with a special DVD presentation and readings from Dr. Sax where Jack describes the flood from his perspective at The Moody Street Bridge.
